Wilco (The Album) is the seventh studio album by Chicago alt-rock group Wilco. Recorded in Neil Finn's Roundhead Studio in New Zealand, the album was self-titled because the band felt it was the perfect distillation of what their sound is
"meant to be".

That sound is obviously "meant to be" some mix of alt-country, Americana and folk rock, with a sprinkle of experimentalism (but not enough to scare anyone away).

The good news is that the album will push all the right buttons for existing fans, but should also welcome in a whole new legion. It is a confident, mature sounding record, which presents tracks that have a multitude of textures and layers, while never trying to be anything other than dashed good music.

There are also a range of hidden treats in the albums 42 minutes. ‘You and I’ is the first time that Wilco have ever recorded a duet, a stunning collaboration with Canadian chanteuse Feist. ‘You Never Know’ is a foot tapping George Harrison type number, while ‘Bull Black Nova’ is perhaps one of the darkest lyrical tracks Wilco has ever produced... really dark.

This is a great chance to listen to a band that is at the peak of their craft and still relevant after all these years - not some fly by night, one album wonder, made for radio type band that the world seems to be so blessed with these days.
