This record is one of the most exciting things that I have picked up this year. Les Savy Fav has not released any new material for six years, but with Let’s Stay Friends it is like they never left.
This album is in a word - excellent.
The band has always been known for exploring a range of ideas with their music. In this modern day incarnation they manage to straddle everything from post punk, to experimental rock, to a full-on ballad.
Some will be disappointed that Let’s Stay Friends sees the band’s sound given some more commercial polishing. However simply take a step back and listen to these twelve tracks for what they are – the output of a band in a creative space that has no boundaries, just wide open spaces to explore.
From the opening strains of ‘Pots & Pans’ you’ll be engrossed, so I won’t hold you up any longer.
You deserve this.
